about

The release of "Commercial Album" by THE RESIDENTS, in the autumn of 1980 ultimately changed a substantial part of my musical perspective.

At that time my work with the RUINS duo was slowly gaining an increasingly solidly defined artistic dimension, but the exposure to that album by the american combo certainly gave a further reason for a new development and revise mine/our compositional techniques.

And it was so influential for both of us RUINS as to make us even think - just for a few weeks - of being able, in our way, to pay homage to their synthetic poetic sound by composing and publishing a series of "short pieces" in the style of the "Commercial Album".

So, in the late spring of 1984 we even conceived a graphic design with a cover (unfortunately apparently lost) that - although remembering the duplicity of the original concept of Pore  Know Graphics - also allowed a distinct presence of ourselves.

Unfortunately, in the end nothing came out of it because there were many other priorities for the band.

A few days ago, while digging into my recordings archive, i stumbled on six of the ten tracks I had proposed for such bizarre project ... made with random instruments such as a Korg MS20, the then-inevitables Yamaha DX9 and CASIO VL1, some various and abandoned drum machines and many sound samples "stolen" from an educational game for children.

It was funny ... so, almost 40 years later, in the name of that failed "commercial madness" I propose part of what was supposed to be mine contribution to such an insane project .

Enjoy!
